Sen. Bill Nelson sent out a political email fundraising off of the devastation of Hurricane Irma while many Floridians are still trying to recover.
It hasn’t even been a month since Hurricane Irma made landfall in Florida, leaving much of the state devastated, but for Sen. Bill Nelson that was more than enough time to start fundraising off the disaster.
The Washington Examiner’s Philip Wegmann tweeted an email that Nelson sent to supporters on Thursday.

In the email, Nelson attacked airlines for increasing the cost of tickets for people trying to travel out of the state ahead of Irma.
“Do you think airlines should cap fares for those fleeing disasters?” Nelson asked at the end of the email, telling his constituents that he wanted to hear from them.
Below the poll question is a contribute button, and as Wegmann put it, “Sen. Bill Nelson is literally fundraising off of Hurricane Irma.”
Nelson’s fundraising email might come back to haunt him given that he is considered to be one of the most vulnerable Democratic Senators up for reelection in 2018.
