Hillary Clinton’s State Department gave special treatment to ‘Friends of Bill’ Clinton following the Haiti earthquake in 2010, according to an ABC News report.
Recently leaked emails show that “a senior aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton repeatedly gave special attention to those identified by the abbreviations ‘FOB’ (friends of Bill Clinton) or ‘WJC VIPs’ (William Jefferson Clinton VIPs),” according to ABC News.
While the emails did not indicate who did and did not receive a contract in Haiti, they do show what happened to people who weren’t connected to the Clintons. Those not fortunate enough to be an “FOB” were directed to a public website.
One of the biggest beneficiaries of the Clinton rebuilding efforts in Haiti was a Korean garment company called SAE-A, which built a plant in Haiti with $175 million that came from American taxpayers. The company has a history of worker abuse and sexual harassment.
It should come as no surprise that SAE-A is a Clinton Foundation donor and its chairman helped to finance a private business for Clinton aide Cheryl Mills.
The ABC News report concludes, “the new emails provide a rare glimpse of the cozy connection between Hillary Clinton’s State Department and Bill Clinton’s Foundation.”
