Sen. Angus King (I-ME) told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday that he supported efforts to investigate the 2015 Uranium One deal that could implicate the Clintons in wrongdoing.

“One of the House Committees has already begun an oversight committee hearing. I always think oversight hearings are appropriate,” King said.

“I’ve been trying to understand this deal,” he added, signaling that he could not comprehend why the Obama administration would place a fifth of U.S. uranium production under Russian control.

“There are questions about it, and we need to get to the bottom of them,” the senator said.

Recent revelations suggested that Russian operatives funneled money to the Clinton Foundation during the deal, indicating that they were trying to buy then-Secretary Hillary Clinton’s approval.
