The far-left senator falsely claimed that the senate held no hearings on Obamacare before trying to repeal and replace the law.
After Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) falsely claimed at a Senate Health, Education, Labor, & Pensions (HELP) committee hearing that the committee had not held hearings on Obamacare prior to the GOP effort to repeal and replace the law, one of his colleagues corrected him on Thursday.
“Let me concur with virtually everybody by thanking you for holding these hearings,” Sanders said to committee Chairman Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN). “I think a lot of pain and time would have been saved perhaps if we had held these hearings six months ago–”
“We had one,” one of Sanders’ colleagues interjected.
“Well, rather than going what we went through,” Sanders said, overlooking the remark and finishing his initial statement.
The Senate HELP committee did, in fact, hold a hearing on stabilizing Obamacare markets in February, a hearing that Sanders appears to have skipped.
