Bill Clinton Falsely Claims Hillary Wasn’t Responsible For Security At Benghazi Consulate

While campaigning in Canton, OH Wednesday, Bill Clinton falsely claimed that Hillary Clinton was not responsible for security at the American consulate in Benghazi, Lybia.

“We need to strengthen our security if we’re going to go into a place where the government can’t protect you, but the Secretary of State’s never been responsible for those decisions,” Bill Clinton told the audience about the Benghazi terrorist attacks.

However, according to U.S. Law:

“The Secretary of State shall develop and implement (in consultation with the heads of other Federal agencies having personnel or missions abroad where appropriate and within the scope of the resources made available) policies and programs, including funding levels and standards, to provide for the security of United States Government operations of a diplomatic nature and foreign government operations of a diplomatic nature in the United States. Such policies and programs shall include— … (B) Security and protective operations (i) Establishment and operation of post security and protective functions abroad. (ii) Development and implementation of communications, computer, and information security. (iii) Emergency planning.” (22 U.S. Code § 4802(a))

Bill Clinton’s assertion that Hillary Clinton wasn’t responsible for the security at the consulate is patently false.
