The chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee blamed Russia for allowing Assad to continue his reign of terror.
Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) said on CNN on Tuesday that Russia was “to blame for what is happening” to the Syrian people.
Corker’s comments came after CNN’s release of graphic footage of the aftermath of a Syrian chemical attack.
In Syria, “there’s more that can be done,” Corker said. “We can basically ground much of the air force that operates” in Syria.
“Let’s see what Russia does – if Russia wants to continue to be a party to what’s happening here,” Corker said. “They’re, in essence, by supporting him, they’re to blame for what is happening to these people.”
“If this is where they want to be, we’ll get a clear understanding of that soon, and then the administration can plan out additional steps,” Corker concluded.
