The New Jersey senator entered the courthouse on Tuesday, not wanting to discuss the case with the media.
Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) walked by reporters who shouted questions at him Tuesday morning, offering nothing in the way of substance.
A reporter from CBS2 asked the senator for comment, and Menendez only said that he was, “Looking forward to picking a good jury.”
Federal prosecutors have charged Menendez with corruption based on his connection with Florida eye doctor Salomon Melgen. Prosecutors are seeking to prove a quid pro quo relationship between the two.
Menendez’s bashfulness outside the Newark court house marked a distinct difference from his position in 2015, when he accused President Obama’s Department of Justice of confusing “friendship” with corruption.
