“It’s really like night and day, to be honest with you,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said, referring to comparisons between the GOP’s rollout of their health care plan and Democrats’ rollout of ObamaCare in 2009.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Schumer was asked about how Republicans criticized Democrats when they passed ObamaCare and what is different about what the Democrats did to what Republicans are doing now.
Schumer said that Democrats held hearings, had the Congressional Budget Office score the legislation so that people knew how much it would cost, and claimed the 2009 law was, “vetted out in the public over and over and over again. ”
Nancy Pelosi in 2009 famously said, “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”
As for people knowing how much it would cost them, ObamaCare has been plagued by continued double-digit premium increases, causing many insurers to drop out of the ObamaCare marketplace.
It would seem that Schumer has developed a selective memory around ObamaCare’s 2009 implementation and Democrats’ handling of it.
White Houe Press Secretary Sean Spicer promised reporters that this legislation would go through regular order on Tuesday.
