MSNBC Host Chuck Todd said on Friday that he does not know “how [the Trump Administration] can have a successful trip to Russia.” Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will visit Russia in April following a meeting of the G7.
Todd said that the optics of the trip would damage the administration’s domestic image.
“It is, to me, a trip fraught with peril,” Todd said.
However, Todd added that President Trump brought on Tillerson to deal with authoritarians like Putin. “Tillerson, he was supposed to be somebody that could deal with rogue actors.”
Todd called the trip Tillerson’s “greatest test,” and questioned whether the Secretary of State was ready for the challenge.
