Hillary Clinton tried to explain why she felt like Sanders did lasting damage to her presidential campaign.

During an interview on CBS’ “Sunday Morning,” Hillary Clinton tried to explain why she felt that attacks from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) during the Democratic primary did lasting damage to her campaign.

CBS’ Jane Pauley highlighted a passage from Clinton’s upcoming book, “What Happened.”

Clinton wrote on the attacks:

“His attacks caused lasting damage, making it harder to unify progressives in the general election and paving the way for Trump’s ‘Crooked Hillary’ campaign.”

“I understood that there were many Americans who because of the financial crash there was anger, and there was resentment. I knew that. But I believed that it was my responsibility to try to offer answers to it, not to fan it,” Clinton told Pauley.

Clinton admitted that this was a mistake because a lot of people didn’t want to hear her plans and wanted her just to share their anger.
