CNN’s Barbara Starr reported Thursday morning that Syrian military communications linked the Assad regime and his Russian supporters to the chemical attack in Syria last week.
According to Starr, the intercepted communications show Syrian military officials had been communicating about the attack before it occurred.
Starr also indicated that Russia had been involved in the attack, pointing out that a Russian drone gathered intelligence on the hospital housing victims of the chemical attack in the immediate aftermath. Conventional weapons were then used to bomb the hospital in an attempt at a cover-up.
Intelligence officials “know that there were Russian chemical weapons experts in Syria,” Starr added.
