CNN said the unemployment rate went up, but this was because people have the confidence to enter the workforce.
In the wake of a jobs report that showed the U.S. economy adding 25 percent more jobs than expected, CNN said that the unemployment rate was ticking up because people now have confidence to enter the work force.
“A definite trend here of decreasing unemployment rates,” CNN’s Christine Roman said. “It ticked up a little bit to 4.4 percent John, but it’s still very near the lowest we have seen since 2001.”
“And the reason why it ticked up, John, I think it’s really important to note, because some 350,000 people came off the sidelines, came out of the shadows and started looking for a job again.”
Roman said that statistic demonstrated the strength of the labor market.
