FBI Director James Comey said that neither the Department of Justice nor the FBI have seen evidence to support President Trump’s claim that then-President Obama had ordered a wiretap of Trump Tower in 2016.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) asked Comey whether President Trump’s statement that President Obama had ordered a wiretapping of Trump Tower is true.
“I have no information that supports those tweets, and we have looked carefully inside the FBI,” Comey told Schiff.
Comey went on to inform Schiff that, “[t]he Department of Justice has asked me to share with you that the answer is the same for the Department of Justice, and all its components. The department has no information that supports those tweets.”
