FBI Director James Comey admitted that political appointees in the Obama administration had the ability to “unmask” American citizens during a House Select Intelligence Committee hearing regarding Russian involvement in the 2016 election.
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) asked Comey if Obama’s Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, would have had access to an unmasked name.
“In some circumstances, sure, he was the Director of National Intelligence,” Comey said.
Gowdy then asked if the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency John Brennan wold have access to this information. Comey told Gowdy that he would have.
Comey also told Gowdy that former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and acting Attorney General Sally Quillian would have access to this information.
