FBI Directory James Comey said that the FBI would investigate ties between Hillary Clinton’s campaign and Russian officials, if information came forward that warranted it during a hearing in front of the House Select Intelligence Committee on Monday.
Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) asked Comey if the FBI would add the Clinton campaign to its investigation of Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election, should information come forward that anyone associated with the Clinton campaign or the Clinton Foundation had ties with Russian officials.
“If people bring us information about what they think is improper or unlawful activity of any kind, we will evaluate it,” Comey told Nunes.
Nunes followed up by saying, “I just hope that if information does surface about the other campaigns, not even just Hillary Clinton’s but any other campaign, that you would take that serious also, if the Russians were trying to infiltrate those campaigns around them.”
“Of course we would,” Comey responded emphatically.
