David Axelrod, a former adviser to President Barack Obama, blasted Hillary Clinton for blaming FBI Director James Comey for her loss in the 2016 presidential election on CNN Wednesday.
“Jim Comey didn’t tell her not to campaign in Wisconsin after the convention,” Axelrod said. “Jim Comey didn’t tell her don’t put any resources into Michigan until the final week of the campaign.”
Axelrod also criticized the former Secretary of State for “a sense that she never fully was willing to take responsibility for her mistakes, particularly that server.”
Despite Clinton’s comments that she took “absolute responsibility,” Axelrod believed these words to be hollow given her citation of Comey and Russian interference in explaining her defeat.
“It takes a lot of work to lose to Donald Trump,” Axelrod said. “The fact that she was in a position to lose because of the Comey letter is something that deserves some introspection.”
