It appears that the left has given up in its attempt to block Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court as the judge testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Just like the on the first day of Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation hearings, protests against his nomination also failed to materialize on the second. Meanwhile, Gorsuch supporters made their voices heard outside the hearing.
Gorsuch arrived on Capitol Hill Tuesday morning to answer questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee. The confirmation hearing will continue through Thursday.
Before the hearing began on Tuesday, roughly one hundred Gorsuch supporters chanted, “Ho, Ho! Hey, Hey! Neil Gorsuch is here to stay!” The protesters carried signs imploring senators to “confirm Gorsuch.”
The opposing side, however, was nowhere to be seen on the streets of Capitol Hill despite left-wing groups’ promises to oppose Gorsuch’s nomination.
Only a meager gathering of organized activists stood for a press conference opposing Gorsuch’s nomination with Sens. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).
