Disgraced former DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz appeared on CNN’s OutFront to discuss if Donald Trump’s presidency is legitimate. So far, 52 Democrats have announced they will be boycotting Trump’s inauguration because they don’t view him as a legitimate president due to Russian interference in the election.
Host Erin Burnett asked Wasserman Schultz directly if she thought Trump was a legitimate president multiple times. Wasserman Schultz said she intends to attend Trump’s inauguration but refused to call him a legitimate President during her interview.
“I believe there’s no question the outcome of this election was affected by the Russian interference with the campaign and who because our intelligence community has unequivocally stated that Russia’s intent was to influence the outcome of the election in favor of Donald Trump,”
Schultz told Burnett.
Burnett pressed Wasserman Schultz on this.
“I’m not going to use — I’m not going to weigh in on the application of the term legitimate or not,” Wasserman Schultz informed Burnett.
Burnett told Wasserman Schultz, “I have to say I do think whether you use the word legitimate is very important. He’s either a legitimate president or he isn’t.”
“I’ll be able to reach a conclusion … when we hear more about these investigations,” Wasserman Schultz replied.
