In an appearance on CNN’s New Day, Representative Henry Cuellar (D-TX) said that rounding up illegal immigrants who have committed crimes was “something that almost everybody does support.”

Cuellar pointed out that President Obama also made an effort to deport criminal illegal immigrants, and said, “I support that. We don’t want to have any criminals here.”

However, Cuellar expressed concern over the Trump administration’s position regarding deportations, questioning whether or not the administration would expand deportations to those who have not committed a crime.

Host Chris Cuomo described Cuellar as someone who understood “life down there at the border.”
