Rep. Ted Lieu, a frequent critic of President Trump, said that the president’s criticism of his predecessor was “fair.”
Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) said on CNN on Thursday that President Trump’s negative comments regarding President Obama’s response to Russian interference during the 2016 election were “fair criticism.”
Trump had said at a press conference in Poland on Thursday that Obama “did nothing about [the interference].”
The president also theorized that Obama did not take action because he was certain of Hillary Clinton’s victory ahead of Election Day last November.
“That is fair criticism,” Lieu, a frequent Trump critic, said. “I do agree with President Trump that President Obama did not do enough to raise the issue of Russian meddling in our elections last year.”
“The Obama administration absolutely should have done more at the time,” he added.
