Representative Tim Ryan (D-OH) said on MSNBC Friday that he “can see why [Comey] did what he did” regarding the Clinton investigation.
Ryan also said that he thought Comey “has credibility,” even though his left-wing colleague Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) did not.
However, Ryan added that he “disagreed” with Comey’s decision to send a letter to Congress, notifying them of his intent to reopen the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server. “I think in his heart, he probably believed he was doing what he thought was right,” Ryan said.
Instead, Ryan blamed Republicans for the saga, saying Comey “was in a difficult position.” Ryan said that Republicans were “breathing down [Comey’s] neck, not allowing [Comey] to operate in… standard operating procedures.”
