“We made a mistake because when we took it to the floor for a vote we did it with just Democratic votes,” McCaskill said about Obamacare.
Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) admitted that Democrats made a mistake by passing Obamacare with only Democratic support during a town hall on Wednesday.
“We made a mistake, the Democrats did,” McCaskill said in an audio recording published by the Republican National Committee (RNC). “Now we had hearings, which the Republicans didn’t. We had a bunch of hearings. We had Republican amendments added to the bill.”
“But still, we made a mistake because when we took it to the floor for a vote we did it with just Democratic votes,” McCaskill concluded.
McCaskill who was elected to the Senate in 2006 voted for Obamacare, a vote that could haunt her as she is widely considered to be one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for reelection in 2018.
The Hill reported in May:
“About 25 counties in Missouri might have no insurers on the ObamaCare exchanges next year after Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) announced Wednesday it won’t participate.”
McCaskill has previously defended Obamcare, but with reelection looming, it appears that McCaskill trying to avoid the blame for her Obamacare vote.
