Dem Senator: Hillary Clinton & the DNC Should Donate Harvey Weinstein’s Money

“I think any of us who received donations from him should … use it to support the cause of combatting sexual harassment,” Sen. Blumenthal told CNN.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said that Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) should donate any money that they had received from Harvey Weinstein during an interview on Monday.

The New York Times reported that Weinstein had been covering up multiple sexual harassment allegations for years. Following this revelation, many Democrats who received money from Democratic mega-donor Weinstein chose to donate those funds to charity.

However, both the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, to whom Weinstein donated and bundled a substantial amount of money, remain silent on donating the money they received.

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked Blumenthal what the DNC and Clinton’s presidential campaign should do with the Weinstein money.

“What I did almost instantly after learning about this absolutely abominable conduct on Mr. Weinstein’s part was to donate the money to an organization, the Connecticut Alliance Against Sexual Violence, that does very good work for women victims and survivors,” Blumenthal explained.

“I think any of us who received donations from him should do the same and use it to support the cause of combatting sexual harassment, sexual assault, and also obviously domestic violence is a very prevalent problem that should be combatted,” he said.
