“I think one might look at the corporate rate. I think that’s a fair thing to do to see that it’s regionalized and equalized,” Dianne Feinstein said on Tuesday.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) added her name to the growing list of top Democrats that are open to tax reform, saying that she thought it was “a fair thing…to look at the corporate tax rate,” during a speech at the Herbst Theater in San Francisco on Tuesday.
Former Democratic Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-CA) asked Feinstein what she thought an overhaul of the United States tax code should contain and what it should avoid.
“Oh boy,” Feinstein responded. “I think one might look at the corporate rate. I think that’s a fair thing to do to see that it’s regionalized and equalized.”
Feinstein then expressed her belief that the tax rate on the top 1% should stay where it is, but that middle-income taxpayers are suffering under the current system and that should be reviewed.
With Feinstein’s comments, she adds her name to the growing list of top Democrats that want to see some version of tax reform accomplished. The list includes Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) and former Secretary of Commerce, Penny Pritzker.
President Trump “is expected to make the case for why he believes changes to the tax code are needed,” during an event in Springfield, MO on Wednesday.
