Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) struggled to provide evidence that President Donald Trump or his campaign had any inappropriate contact with Russian officials in an interview with Fox News’ Shepard Smith.
Smith asked Warner if the intel community had any hard proof that the Trump campaign members or Mike Flynn had any illegal contact with the Russian government.
“Let’s put it like this: we believe we need to see the transcript of the conversation before we reach any final conclusion,” Warner said. “It appears that [Flynn] in effect left the vice president and in effect hanging out to dry as the vice president vouched for.”
Unsatisfied with Warner’s answer Smith pressed Warner if he had any evidence that Trump had any illegal contact with Russians.
Warner continued to dodge Smith’s question and failed to provide any evidence that Trump or his campaign had any inappropriate contact with Russian officials.
