Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) called the appointment of Mueller a serious step in, “reaffirming the rule of law.”
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), who has long been calling for a special prosecutor to investigate possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, appeared on CNN to applaud the appointment of former FBI Director Robert Mueller to serve as special counsel in the investigation on Wednesday.
“Bob Mueller is someone with a history of expertise and experience, with the guts and backbone to stand up and speak out against any kind of political influence,” Blumenthal told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
Blumenthal called the appointment of Mueller a serious step in “reaffirming the rule of law and the independence of this investigation.”
