“This is a pretty bad guy who did some really awful things,” Chris Murphy told CNN.
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said that all arms of the Democratic Party should return the money they have received from Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein during an interview on Sunday.
The New York Times reported that Weinstein paid off multiple people who have accused him of sexual assault in the past.
Weinstein is a Democratic mega-donor whose donations include large contributions to the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).
While many Democrats have returned the donations Weinstein had given them, the political arms of the Democratic Party have elected not to return the funds Weinstein donated to them.
CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Murphy whether these political arms of the Democratic Party should return those donations.
“I think that probably makes sense. This is a pretty bad guy who did some really awful things,” Murphy responded.
