Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) said that the Trump administration’s cap of 50,000 refugees was “nothing” and the United States should “increase those numbers” at a House Democrats forum Wednesday.
President Trump’s executive order reduced the refugee cap from 110,000 under President Obama to 50,000.
Almost from the very beginning of the 2016 campaign, Trump made opposition to increased refugee traffic a centerpiece of his campaign, and voters rewarded him November 8, delivering him more than 300 electoral votes.
Jayapal rejected these developments, calling for a hike in permitted refugees.
