Rep. Brenda Lawrence seemed to confuse parts of the Pledge of Allegiance with parts of the Preamble of the Constitution.
Rep. Brenda Lawrence (D-MI) appeared not to know the pledge of allegiance, which she attempted to recite during a protest at the United States Capitol on Thursday.
“We are going to change the face of this house,” Lawrence told the crowd pointing back at the Capitol building, “and we’re going to change the face in the White House.”
Lawrence then told the crowd, “and we are going to be able to stand proud again and say, we the people one nation under God with liberty, with liberty, and justice for all.”
It’s unclear if Lawrence was attempting to recite the Pledge of Allegiance or the Preamble of the Constitution, as her remarks used parts from both.
