Rendell Suggests She Lost Because She’s A Woman
On Friday, former Hillary Clinton surrogate Ed Rendell appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe to discuss Jennifer Palmieri’s comments that Clinton lost the election because Trump provided a platform to white supremacists.
Host Joe Scarborough asked Rendell if Clinton lost Pennsylvania because voters in the state are racists and bigots, Scarborough pointed out the state’s voters picked Barack Obama, America’s first African-American president, twice.
“No, absolutely not. It didn’t. We didn’t lose in Pennsylvania because of racism,” Rendell told Scarborough. “Actually, more important point was: were Pennsylvanians ready to vote for a woman president or this woman president?”
Rendell went on to point out that only one time Pennsylvania’s history has a woman won a statewide election.
