During a Senate Banking Committee hearing Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) lectured Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf for his “gutless leadership” of the bank.
Wells Fargo has come under fire in recent weeks because its employees had been secretly opening thousands of fake checking accounts using customers’ information to meet strict sales quotas.
“This is about accountability. You should resign. You should give back the money,” Warren who is an outspoken critic of Wall Street, told Stumpf. “You should be criminally investigated.”
