“When you travel with John McCain, you get up early and work until late at night,” Warren told CNN.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) praised John McCain’s (R-AZ) work ethic during an interview with CNN’s Phil Mattingly on Wednesday following the news that McCain had been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.
Mattingly asked Warren about a recent trip she took with McCain to Afghanistan and what McCain was like on that trip.
“Tough as a boot and ready to go at every moment,” Warren responded. “When you travel with John McCain, you get up early and work until late at night because that’s who he is.”
Mattingly followed up by asking Warren what her perspective of McCain is, given their different ideological leanings.
“John McCain and I cosponsored…a 21st Century Glass Stegall Bill. He was really strong on break[ing] up the giant banks, [he] thinks they pose a real risk to the economy, and he didn’t mind saying so,” Warren told Mattingly before touting McCain’s calls that America needs a strategy in Afghanistan.
