The sign depicted Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins as the house elf Dobby from the “Harry Potter Series.”
ESPN showed a sign during a segment on “College GameDay” that depicted Ohio State freshman running back J.K. Dobbins as a slave on Saturday morning.
The sign, which read, “Dobbins Is A Free Elf,” and depicts Dobbins as the house elf Dobby, is a play off the popular quote from the Harry Potter series.
In the Harry Potter series, Dobby is a house elf that is enslaved by the Malfoy wizarding family but eventually freed.
In Dobby’s final encounter with his former masters, he tells his owner that, “Dobby has no master. Dobby is a free elf.”
During a segment when the sign was shown, laughter can be heard from the ESPN panel.
