The UN ambassador said Trump would consider adverse trade actions if the Chinese didn’t help solve the threat emanating from Pyongyang.
UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said on CNN on Sunday that President Trump will consider hitting China over trade if Beijing refuses to help Trump solve the crisis emanating from North Korea.
“If they don’t go along with that, the president has made it clear that he will start looking at trade relations with China,” Haley said.
The president has repeatedly discussed the need for fairer trade relations between the United States and China.
Haley called meetings between the countries’ presidents “extremely important.”
The threat from Pyongyang drastically escalated this past week, as the North Koreans successfully tested an interncontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that could reach U.S. shores.
