The failed presidential candidate thinks the former FBI director treated her unfairly.
Former secretary of state and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton suggested in an interview with NBC on Wednesday that then-FBI Director James Comey should have asked for her permission to look at emails found on Anthony Weiner’s laptop.
“I was just dumbfounded,” Clinton said of Comey’s reopening of the investigation. “I thought, ‘What is he doing?’ The investigation was closed. I know there was no new information.”
Clinton claimed the reopening was “not necessary.”
“[Comey] could have called me up; he could have called others involved up and said, ‘Hey, can we look at this new stuff just to make sure it’s stuff we’ve seen before?'” Clinton said, implying that the FBI director should have asked her permission.
The former first lady told interviewers that she would have been kind enough to grant permission for Comey to continue his investigation.
