CNN has just hired two of President Trump’s biggest critics, Walter Shaub and Preet Bharara.
CNN has hired two of President Trump’s strongest critics, former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara and former director of the United States Office of Government Ethics Walter Shaub.
The hires suggest that CNN is making a strong play at taking over the mantle of the being the anti-Trump network from MSNBC.
MSNBC’s ratings have soared under the Trump administration, as it has successfully positioned itself as the anti-Trump network to liberals who are distraught over the Trump presidency.
Politico first reported that Bharara (who was fired by Trump and who has since repeatedly attacked the Trump administration) was hired by CNN to be a senior legal analyst for the network.
Shaub, who resigned over ethical concerns, is now a contributor for the network.
Trump has repeatedly sparred with CNN for months, referring to the network as ‘fake news’ and the Clinton News Network. These hires will probably draw the ire of Trump at some point in the near future.
