Former Department of Homeland Security under President Obama, Janet Napolitano, said Thursday that she is not worried about Donald Trump’s appointment of former military officers to critical cabinet posts. When CNN Newsroom host Carol Costello asked Napolitano if Trump’s general-laden cabinet concerned her, Napolitano responded, “Not necessarily.”
Napolitano even praised the idea of appointing former high-ranking military officers to the presidential cabinet. The praise came amid comments regarding General John Kelly’s nomination for Secretary of Homeland Security.
“I think the putative nominee for Department of Homeland Security, General Kelly, I think you need somebody that can do multiple things at the same time because the Department of Homeland Security has such broad ranging powers and authorities,” Napolitano said.
