Dickerson blasted Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez Sunday for his use of coarse language to describe the Trump administration.
Face the Nation host John Dickerson blasted Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez Sunday for his use of coarse language to describe the Trump administration.
“Gone is Michelle Obama’s advice for handling the opposition,” Dickerson said.
His show then played a clip of Obama at the Democratic National Convention, saying, “When they go low, we go high.”
“This is about more than crass language,” Dickerson said. “In times of tension, do you keep your standards or do you drop them?”
Dickerson cited Perez’s criticism of Republican’s tolerance of Trump’s foul language and added, “So two wrongs make a right, and the race is on to the bottom.”
“If you oppose a president for his coarseness, why would you imitate it?” Dickerson asked. “Donald Trump’s primary opponents tried and failed at this.”
Dickerson suggested that Perez’s use of foul language replaced his lack of substance in terms of solutions to America’s problems. “It suggests a reliance on shock rather than strength of an argument.”
He also said that the DNC Chair’s constant use of foul language sounded “calculated.”
