John Podesta Doesn’t Think That Election Was Fair

On Sunday, Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta sat down with NBC’s Chuck Todd for his first post-election interview. Podesta recently wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post in which he called for an investigation into the FBI’s handling of Russian hacks.

Todd opened the interview by asking Podesta if he though the election was free and fair.

“I think the Russians clearly intervened in the election. I think that now we know that both the CIA, the Director of National Intelligence, the FBI all agree that the Russians intervened helped Trump,” Podesta told Chuck Todd.

“So I think that people went to the polls. They cast their votes. Hillary Clinton got 2.9 million more votes than Donald Trump. But Donald Trump is claiming the Electoral College victory. Tomorrow they will vote,” went on to say, dodging the question.

Todd pressed Podesta on this point again, asking if he thought it was a free and fair election.

“I think it was distorted by the Russian intervention, lets put it that way,” Podesta responded.

Todd asked Podesta what he meant by “distorted.”

Podesta responded: “A foreign adversary directly intervened into our democratic institution and tried to tilt the election to Donald Trump.”
