Kelly: I Spent 90 Minutes Walking Around Arlington Cemetery to Get Over Politicization of Call

The Chief of Staff criticized Rep. Frederica Wilson for politicizing the condolence call.

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly told the White House Press Corps that he spent an hour and a half walking around Arlington National Cemetery yesterday after a congresswoman politicized President Trump’s call to a Gold Star family.

“Life, the dignity of life is sacred – that’s gone. Religion – that seems to be gone as well. Gold Star families – I think that left in the convention over the summer,” Kelly said. “But I just thought, the selfless devotion that brings a man or woman to die on the battlefield, I just thought that might be sacred.”

The chief of staff said that the “only thing [he] could do” when listening to Rep. Frederica Wilson’s (D-FL) politicization of the phone call was to walk around Arlington National Cemetery for an hour and a half.
