Conway thinks it’s doubtful that special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating Trump for obstruction of justice.
Counselor to President Trump, Kellyanne Conway, said that Trump is not under any investigation, citing former FBI Director James Comey remarks to Trump that he repeated under oath. Conway made the remarks during an interview on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday.
ABC’s George Stephanopoulos and Conway were discussing special counsel Robert Mueller’s decision to impanel a grand jury to investigate Russia’s interference in the 2016 elections earlier this week.
“If Bob Mueller is going to continue the investigation, we will cooperate how ever best we can,” Conway told Stephanopoulos. “The president is not a target of any investigation. Jim Comey told him that as FBI Director three times, and he assured that under oath.”
“That may have been overtaken by events, and we will see whether the special counsel is indeed looking at obstruction, including of the president,” Stephanopoulos responded.
Conway interjected that it was doubtful that Mueller was looking into obstruction of justice charges against Trump.
