Not only was Waters’ claim false, but Trump paid more taxes, both in rate and dollars, than President Obama and Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) claimed that President Trump has paid “nothing” in taxes at a march demanding the president release his tax returns in Washington DC Saturday. Not only was this claim false, but Trump paid more taxes, both in rate and dollars, than President Obama and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
“What is Donald Trump paying [in taxes]?” Waters asked the crowd.
“Nothing!” the crowd yelled back.
Waters repeated the crowd’s claim, “Nothing!”
“He is using every loophole, every trick to avoid paying his fair share of taxes,” she claimed.
Trump’s released 2005 tax returns showed that he paid 25 percent on $150 million in earnings. Obama paid 18.7 percent on an income of $436,000 and Sanders paid 13.5 percent on an income of $205,271.
