Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO), a major Clinton surrogate, struggled when pressed by Chris Wallace on why five Clinton staffers would need FBI immunity.
On Fox News Sunday, Chris Wallace spent nearly two minutes pressing Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) on why the FBI needed to give five of Hillary Clinton’s State Department staffers immunity during their investigation. McCaskill struggled with the questions.
Wallace kicked it off by noting that “doubts persist about [Clinton’s] honesty and asking McCaskill: “If nobody did anything wrong, why are five people that were involved with them asking for and receiving immunity from threat of prosecution?”
McCaskill dodged, talking about the non-partisanship of the FBI, but Wallace interjected: “Why would they need immunity?”
McCaskill stammered at first, before arguing immunity is commonplace in these investigations. She closed by saying, “We need to put this to rest,” and pivoted to an attack on GOP nominee Donald Trump.
