McConnell to Bannon: Winners Make Policy, Losers Go Home

The Senate Majority Leader shot down the suggestion that Bannon could transform the GOP.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) shot back at Steve Bannon in an appearance on CNN on Sunday.

The Breitbart executive asked for a Brutus to take down McConnell’s ‘Julius Caesar’ last Saturday at the Values Voter Summit.

“The winners of elections make policy and the losers go home and go into some other kind of work,” McConnell told CNN’s Dana Bash.

The senator said that efforts to overthrow incumbent GOP senators had cost the party valuable seats, which could have been instrumental in helping to pass President Trump’s agenda.

“This element has been out there for a while. They cost five seats in 2010 and 2012 by nominating people who couldn’t win in November,” he continued.

McConnell told Bash that he would work to nominate candidates who could actually win general elections.
