House Republicans formally rolled out their tax reform plan on Thursday, and it looks like the American middle class can expect a massive tax cut.

The Republican tax reform plan will give the average American middle-class family of four earning $59,000 a year a $1,182 tax cut according to the plan.

The report, released by the House Committee on Ways and Means, regarding the Republican plan states:

“The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is a bold, pro-growth bill that will overhaul our nation’s tax code for the first time since President Reagan’s historic tax reform 31 years ago. With this bill, a typical middle-income family of four, earning $59,000 (the median household income), will receive a $1,182 tax cut.”

It appears that claims by House and Senate Democrats that the Republican plan would increase taxes on the American middle class is untrue.

Recent polling shows there is general support for the Republican tax reform plan from the American people.
