Joe Scarborough and former Democratic Congressman Harold Ford said that Trump is more popular than Democratic leaders.
Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough and former Rep. Harold Ford (D-TN) highlighted the enormous problems facing Democratic National Committee and Congressional Democrats on Monday morning.
Scarborough at first mentioned the unpopularity of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
“[In] almost all of the seats that Democrats need to take from Republicans, Donald Trump is more popular than Nancy Pelosi and probably Chuck Schumer,” he said.
Then Scarborough asked Ford to “explain” the massive fundraising advantage that Republicans currently have over the Democratic Party.
“Without a message and a local messenger, it is very difficult to construct a path to victory for Democrats in the Senate, winning the majority, and Democrats in the House doing it as well,” Ford said.
Ford also backed up Scarborough’s claim that Pelosi was less popular than Trump in many of the congressional districts that Democrats had to win in order to retake the majority.
