On Wednesday, Secretary of State John Kerry gave a speech on peace in the Middle East in which he blasted Israel for over an hour. MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” spent a considerable about of time debating the purpose and possible benefits of Kerry’s speech.
“This has probably emboldened more of the Palestinian leadership in a few different ways,” MSNBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin told the panel.
Mohyeldin went on to say of the U.N. resolution: “[I]t certainly emboldened the Palestinian leadership to say that the position they have been taking – which is refusing to negotiate so long as settlements continue – they now feel that they have more legitimacy with that position.”
Mohyeldin went on to say that the Palestinian Authority might now go to international court to seek damages from Israel for the settlements, for Palestinian families.
The Palestinian Authority spends roughly 10 percent of its annual budget, roughly $140 million, paying terrorists who attack Israelis.
