MSNBC: Obama Saying He Could Have Won Is An Indictment On Hillary Clinton

On Monday, President Obama made some news by claiming he would have won the presidential election again if he was allowed to run. During an interview with long-time advisor David Axelrod, Obama claimed: “You know, I am confident in this vision because I’m confident that if I — if I had run again and articulated it, I think I could’ve mobilized a majority of the American people to rally behind it.”

MSNBC’s Morning Joe panel thought the president’s comments were more of an indictment on Hillary Clinton than anything else.

NBC’s Kasie Hunt told the panel: “It’s a difficult set of comments for Hillary Clinton. Essentially saying, ‘hey, you know, if I had been in her shoes.’ The message she ran on was essentially modified Obama. Stronger together. They did a lot of poll testing to figure out that that’s what they were going to run on.” Hunt added “she couldn’t take what Obama had and then win with it.”

The Washington Post’s Eugene Robinson argued that President Obama would have turned out more voters in Philadelphia and Milwaukee, effectively swaying the election away from Donald Trump.

NBC’s Chris Jansing agreed with Robinson, but still thinks Trump would have won because this was a change election.
