Ahead of President Donald Trump’s first address to a joint session of Congress, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough praised Trump’s first 40 days in office, in particular for his nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to serve on the Supreme Court.
MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski read an article that previewed Trump’s speech, after which she asked the panel what exactly has Trump accomplished.
“You’ve seen him appoint somebody who, politically, is bulletproof,” Scarborough responded, referring to Judge Gorsuch.
Brzezinski even agreed with this statement, interjecting “true.”
Scarborough went on to say: “He picked a guy that would make – he’s like John Roberts. Would make Democrats appear foolish to oppose him. He also picked a guy who no problem standing up to him when he said what he said about judges. that’s a big success.”
“Same with his foreign policy team,” Brzezinski added.
Scarborough claimed that Trump’s foreign policy team “is strong as a foreign policy team as you’ll find going back to George H.W. Bush, and that’s saying a lot.”
Scarborough also cited Trump’s executive order on immigration, pointing out that the majority of Americans support what Trump is attempting to do, despite the sloppy rollout.
“He also has the Keystone Pipeline, that was an eight-year war that conservatives will cheer, even if it’s largely symbolic,” Scarborough continued. “He’s got union members coming in, leaders coming into his office saying, ‘hey, we want to work with you.'”
“He’s had African-American leaders in the Oval Office,” Brzezinski added.
Scarborough concluded by saying, “if you are a conservative and you voted for Donald Trump he can list five, six, seven things that he’s done in a month-and-a-half and say, ‘see, I told you I was going to shake things up in Washington.'”
