Senate Democrats accuse Steve Mnuchin and Tom Price of lying under oath.
MSNBC’s Kelly O’Donnell reported that Senate Democrats serving on the Senate Finance Committee are boycotting the markup hearings for President Trump’s Cabinet nominations of Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) and Steve Mnuchin.
“That means the nominations are stalled and the reason, they contend, [is] that in both cases of Steve Mnuchin and Tom Price, that they have not been fully truthful with the committee, which of course is a requirement of being a nominee appearing before these hearings,” O’Donnell reports.
MSNBC then played a clip of Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) talking about why Senate Democrats are boycotting these nominations.
“We’re not going to this committee today because we want the committee to regroup, get the information, have these two nominees come back in front of the committee, clarify what they lied about – I would hope they’d apologize for that – and then give us the information we all need for out state,” Brown told reporters.
O’Donnell commented on Brown’s remarks saying, “Using the word lie, that is certainly ratcheting things up here on Capitol Hill.”
